Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the web, including her own released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was supported by EarthGang. In 2018, Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was released on September 5th. Her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November 2013 she dropped No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. The song, released with a video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. In support of the track, she toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
